Well, it started with a lot of pressure washing but in the end I resorted to using a cloth and bleach to get rid of the grey/black 'traffic film'. Worked a treat and I am now applying three coats of Mer to the topsides.

I have removed, what seemed like a quarter of a ton of accumulated junk, so I may find that this year's boating is faster and/or more economical.

I was a bit miffed when I checked on the boat at the top of the tide this evening and she was hanging on her warps. No rain and a load of returning boats this evening meant the dock had lost a lot of water, needless to say a returning sail training yacht parked behind me failed to notice that my boat was hanging, so they just dropped their warp over mine and then sat in the cockpit and watched me try to lift a ton of boat by myself. In the end I removed their warp, held it with my foot and eased my lines and they just carried on as if I was not there. Ignorant &^%$£. I'll be glad when I go back to the outer harbour.

Anyway, I have a nice clean boat ready for Easter and just have the RIB to sort out - I'm taking out the consoles, cleaning the ten years of accumulated gunk and renewing all the wiring, fitting GPS, depth sounder and VHF.

Outer harbour...... leave it out, it's the Council Estate.

Do you know a man down yourway called HLB (I think he's got an std currently)
well it turns out he may have some MFBRE for you and it would have cleaned your boat with very little effort :)

There is no way I am going to associate with a man who has both an STD and can make an entire club resign. I mean, he doesn't even dress for dinner.

I am not sure my 'unsightly stains' were enough to warrant boat removing elixir.

I noticed you didn't hang around once you saw some hard work.

I have been searching up and down the Menai Straits (google maps), trying to find your marina Major.
The marina website has a pic. that shows your style of boat is a popular choice, five in a small group.

Hi Callum,

The marina is here.

The is the dock, which is fresh water and where I live and my boat is usually in the outer harbour, then I am not constrained by the lock gates.

The Beneteau Antares and its sister boat the Jeanneau Merry Fisher - known as Peche Promenades - are very popular as they have a fully enclosed wheel house, so can be used in all weathers.

I was looking for Port Dinorwic initially, but couldn't see it. I got lost in all the traditional Welsh spelling

Also noticed that the infamous Swellies is part of the Straits, I imagined it was a stretch of coastal water.
