Re: I\'ve been invited

they are trudgy trawlery things, bit slower than many saily boats so i don't quite see the point. But they can cross the atlantic, so they must be okay. Press-launch wise, i think they are a bit american so there won't be lashings of booze which lead to it being a total flop. Otherwise, if there is loads of booze, and/or if there are loads of tanned wimmin around, it'll be the same boat, but fabulously desirable and highly recommended.

Re: I\'ve been invited

They're asking 1.15 million for those trudgers. Blumming speed freaks like TCM obviously needn't apply. 10knots and a 3,000 mile range sound pretty good to me, though!

Re: trudginess definition

hm, i am obviously failing to understand the meaning of "trudgy". I mean, what's 10 knots if it ain't trudgy? And why not get a sailing boat if it only does 10knots and not bother with quite so much engine?

I'm sure I remember a post from you, extolling the virtues of bimbling along at 15 knots, in spite of the superfast nutterboat capabilities of D2.

Is this 'cos you're in training to get raggiefied as well? I think we should be told /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: trudginess definition

It all depends on your point of view; on my boat 4.5 knots is trudging. 10 knots is clipping along. The only time I'm ever going to top 20 knots is on the business end of a tsunami.

Re:superfast nuttrboat

ah, but see, that's cos of inante tightgittedness, plus general lack of purpose. Going at bimbling speeds not only saves a pile of loot, but extends the amount of time doing the boaty thing. So, if there's somewhere to have lunch say 30 miles away, i could set off at midday and wham it, or set off at 11am and not have to wham it. Actually, i used to set off at 11 am and wham it, then spends ages hanging about. Which was a bit of a waste of time and money too.

Raggywise, the main attraction would be not having to plot courses via diesel pumps, being able to sit at anchor without yeeargh seesawing all over the place, and being able to do boating in the caribee over the winter instead of er not, on a powerboat that is fairly well nailed to this side the atlantic unless i fill the bedrooms full of diesel like Gentry Eagle.

only trub is of course, all the raggie boats are crappy cushions, uncomfy and no nice swooshy carpet, perhaps only one or two drinks cabinets frexample the poxy moody 64 wd have to put an icemaker in the aft bedroom. So, er, i haven't got any further really.

Re: trudginess definition

oright, i'm being a bit horrid. You are obviously being a bit of a nutter at 8knots, and i spect you're lying about it and sometimes do 9knots.
