Yes plse email the pic. I guess a .dwg is a design/engineer application like autocad, I've never heard of it but hope my puter will be able to open in Draw or pwrpoint or summat. Use john.f.maxey@andersen.com

If you have not yet decided on lectronix (have you?) how can they send drg of dashboard?? Or are they gonna suggest a lectronix package?

Suggested Ital transaltion to follow. I emailed words to mate Luigi, a sailor in Milano, he'll reply fast. First one lookes like windspeed indicator. Very flash.

ICS Navtex was the one I like. Not evryone agreed. I like itbecause (a) the sort of info it gives I find convenient to get on paper, then you rip off the irrelevant stuff and jam the (post-it note sized) bit that you care about somewhere on the dash to remind you and (b) it has NMEA hookup so it prints a running deck log (time, COG, SOG, lat/long, depth) every 15mins which IMHO is a good safety feature. And it's quite clever, you can program it so that if the position is the same twice on the trot it stops printing decklog, cuz it realises you are anchored or in marina, so it does not keep spewing paper like mad, and when it sees your position has moved it automatically starts printing again.

If you chose the ICS Navtex, think carefully about location. Maybe not on dash, as on a sportscruiser the spewing paper looks a bit daft. Also printer mechanics would not like getting wet. Ours is in the saloon under the helm seat, right by where I was sitting when you stopped for tea. Maybe down below on the LS23, or behind a flap, not sure really, but like I say not right by the tachos and stuff?

Yes, I'm Italian.
Anemometro means wind speed meter
Tastiera: keyboard
pilota can mean autopilot (should be autopilota, but it's frequently shortened) but also helmsman or pilot,
TLC should mean telecommunications or something similar, but it's not Italian, IT'S ENGLISH!!!

Re: fantastico

I'm guessing that this lot means "here's an email/fax of the dashboard".

Re: fantastico

Matt - I've got the tapes and manual for the BBC "Get By In Italian" course that you're welcome to borrow. Could be handy as you turn up to find a small speed boat and not the Leopard.

"But sir, it is what you ordered"
"Doh."

Re: ics model number?

There are 2 ICS models. Cant remeber the difference, in a hurry so no time to look on web right now. Re potential embarrassment down at Rodriguez, I think you should be ok. AFAIK they are the only maker of paper print Navtexs, until you go to the massive shipmate stuff for trawlers but they are proper weatherfax things. ICS units are found on Broom, Sq, Oyster, Swan type craft so I hope you'll be ok

To be honest, I only tried to be of some help, not to raise such a mess. Anyway I really appreciated the translation.
"Priatore" does not mean anything in Italian, nor there is any similar word if you exclude "priest", which could be of some help in rough sea situations.

Re: untranslatable italian

Hmm. The drawing from Italy def has the word "priettore", I just checked again. Not "priatore". Looks like the place on the dash where switches for lights, horn, windscreen wipers etc etc would be located, but not sure. Any other guesses??

Re: No spikkaa da lingo

I know this is probably a stupid off the wall suggestion, but have you tried sending a fax\e-mail back to them, (copied to MD, Chairman, Tech Dir, Sales Dir, local Mafioso & Pizza Hut), saying "I'm the bloody customer who's spending 1.5 million quid and I only speak English. Resend your message in English you thick dago twit" or words to that effect. Probably better if you shout loudly in CAPS too or get it translated into Italian.

\"I have a email from italy\" -Who cares?

Mr Matthews - If you have enough money to buy that boat, surely you can afford a translating service instead of boring us to death. Business must be slack.
p.s I have the feeling that the Leopard will look like dromedary, the way things are going.

Re: \"I have a email from italy\" -Who cares?

Actually, some of us are most interested in hearing about the whole experience of specifying a £1.5 million boat, or indeed anything else remoteley related to Motor Boats (not sure about football season tickets and all the other N.A. stuff which flies around here though).

I am fairly sure I am not the only one who thinks like this either. every thread related to the new Leopard always gets a good amount of replies.

Regards
Mike
