It shouldn\'t happen to a boat
A cautionary tale this one. A friend of mine over at Eastbourne drove into the marina yesterday to oversee relaunch after 6 months of extensive refitting. The Marina manager called him on the mobile as he went through the barrier. He advised him that his boat had just fallen over on the hardstanding. The screw type stand had gone through his hull, below the waterline.Ouch!
They had made an observation that the newly applied antifoul was all over the hull, including where the prop pads had been. Conclusion: the owner had wound them down to antifoul underneath. Outcome: big time problems with his insurance company. Solution: read the hard standing small print and see who is responsible for damage caused by 'fiddling with the stands'. I bet you find its not the Marina, and your insurance company won't like it too much either. Best to leave them alone I do fink and get the marina to slap some A/F on during craning back into the water!
