Scuttlebut is the Yacht club bar (in a thread not too distant from here). So while you are all typing away, what is the drink you are enjoying (or would choose to enjoy) at the same time?
Me, I enjoy a glass of Shiraz, but only one or two, otherwise I get headaches. But rarely during the day.
And incidentally, if Scuttlebut is really the yacht club bar equivalent, then how come so many of you can indulge during work time? Love to know that secret./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Even I had to go to work today sadly.

As soon as I've fetched SWMBO from Dayskip class I'm gonna have a glass, or two, of Vina Albali Gran Reserva 1997. Not coz it's me fave or anything, it was on offer in Sainsbury's so I thought I'd give it a try.

Do you not drink very often during the day, or just not get the headaches?

I don't often drink during the day, it makes me sleepy. But in the evening, well that is another thing altogether. But only red wine, white at a push. Been trying the on-offer wines in Sainsbury's this evening. Quite good.
Didn't get to France this summer, the registration document got lost in the post or at the MCA. It finally turned up a month ago. So no French purchases this year sadly.

I'm enjoying a virtual Rioja for reasons which I'm sure SWMBO will explain upon her return.

During work time I have 2 computers running, one just for work. The other one is a laptop which I use mostly for web research and some private stuff. SB is usually open and I can switch to it from time-to-time to stick my oar in. I try not to open anything from jimi during meetings.

My work computer is behind our company firewall and I don't risk it on potentially dodgy sites (like this or any other public forums).

There is a sadness that's crept into my routine over time. Which pc do I check first for updates on my return? I'm hoping to reverse this, if only for my sanity and my recent poor standing in our companies' technical community.

I'm very much looking forward to the day when I spend less time in front of a matrix of colourful light dots and a bunch of buttons, each with a single letter as though designed for a simpleton. As an ageing nerd who cut his teeth on an Elliot 803 and a PDP8 I have always had a simple benchmark for computers. When you can pick one up, pop in the programme you want to run, and pull the 'Go' trigger I reckon they'll have come of age.

In the meantime, back to the virtual Rioja and the optical mouse problem for me. Don't you just hate the expression "Plug'n'Play"?

I don't, Julie. So what do little mouses drink?
And by the way, aren't you sorry for poor Tome and all his trials with SWMHBO and work and all?

Most of us are people whose work involves staring at a screen instead of at other people's tonsils. Let's face it, we'd all rather be sailing, including my own dentist who is only to happy to tell you all about his real life as a sailor as opposed to his captive life as a dentist!

1 kg sugar to 4 litres water , add 10g yeast - repeat 50 times to make up 200l mash and allow to ferment for 10 days.

extract the ethanol by whatever means you have available (should get around 20~25 litres of 170 proof spirit depending on your yeast and fermentation technique).

Dilute, flavour and enjoy at around 50p per litre for 40vol spirit but, shhh.. don't let HMC&E catch you.

Some git keeps putting their fag out in my water bowl.

Not a problem though, strange thing about the colour of scotch and he hasn't noticed that his glass does not go down as he is drinking.

The drink I'm currently enjoying? - a cup of good strong tea whilst toggling the screen between S/Butt and my monthly report to the Directors.

The drink I'm virtually enjoying? - a glass of malt...
