It’s the Equinox...

No, it's not the equinox!

You had me worried there, I wasn't ready. Fortunately, we've still got 6 days to gear up for it.

I haven't noticed any storms. Am I missing out? The equinoctial springs don't look very terrifying, either.

XC weather give F8, gusting F10 on Sun.

Curious. Met office UK outlook Saturday 22nd to Monday 1st Oct says:

. . . However, through Saturday wet and windy weather is expected to arrive in some areas, perhaps pushing across the UK on Sunday. Atlantic weather systems are then likely to continue to arrive from the west through the rest of the period bringing generally wetter conditions in the northwest, and drier conditions persisting for longest in the southeast. Strong winds are likely at times, particularly in the northwest with a low risk of gales. . .

Slight difference between the two models. GFS top, ECMWF bottom.

Which will be closest?

Tillergirl, it's European Centre for Meteorology and Weather Forecasting I rate their mid term weather forecast over GFS by a country mile... Still means strong winds in the south Sunday though

It's been a breezy old day here but the Walton Lifeboat site this aftenoon was only showing 15 mph for the previous hour, so I don't think I will be relying on them.

I was hoping to sail from the Medway to Essex on Tuesday morning, but didn’t fancy sailing in an F8, even from astern.

Next window now looks to be Saturday, assuming the forecast doesn’t change again. Sailing on Sunday is definitely out with 64 knot gusts predicted!!!

In the meantime, the boat is on a swing mooring in Queenboruogh. Hope it’s still there on Saturday.:(
