It’s all Nicks Fault

I recon all this boat shortage and price increases has nowt to do with Staycations it is all Nick Burnhams fault selling people the dream On his You Tube channel. Problem is how often does that dream day out actually happen if you boat in the U.K. ?

I've just seen this thread now BP, ? Nick sold it to me, hence the Leader. I can honestly say we have had a few challenging days but the majority of the time its been bloody marvellous with a few awesome days thrown in. Nick said he needs that one "justification day" per year then all the costs are worth it, I must admit I want a few more than one.

I agree you don't need too many Justification days but I think maybe 2 as a minimum. Here is one of ours and guess what it is in a very small boat :

Nice video BP, I love Ullswater, best part of the lakes, I know it well, I lived up near Hadrians Wall for years but always kept away from the tourists at Windermere. I do agree you need at least 2, pah what does Burnham know ?

Yeah what does he know...... He has never been near a boat I recon :ROFLMAO:

This was another of our Justification Days in the next size of boat up our 4.5 m Rib

Now that looks to be a lovely day out. And for me it is great information as I had to look up where Lundy was..... What a lovely place

I too blame Nick Burnham for the rush of folk into boating.
I also blame him for Third World debt
Covid
Cornwall being over run with Emmets all summer
North Korea's nuclear programme. Oh, and Iran's
The build up of Soviet troops next to Ukraine
The storming of the Senate last year
The Salisbury poisonings
Shrinkflation
The cost of energy

Oh, and my aching shoulders after a two hour surf this afternoon.

I was hoping nobody would notice those other things...

If every single weekend was a magical boating experience, the experience would quickly become less magical and the whole thing would seem far less special.

It costs money, it can be very frustrating but when the stars align and it all goes well, it's absolutely worth it.

I also believe that to get absolute satisfaction from owning a boat, doing some small jobs yourself is crucial, just something to do or somewhere to spend the weekend even if you can't venture out.

Plus 1 on that

Completely agree, I get great satisfaction from doing stuff on the boat, I no longer work on my cars, to many electronics, but the boat is different and doing the small jobs is very satisfying.

I had a justification day yesterday, SWMBO was busy, beautiful weather so I took the boat up Beaulieu River and a blat across to the IOW, I saw one other boat out all day, flat water, so had to spin about to play in my own wake  crisp and cold then back on the mooring for a cuppa and a pork pie, not a bad way to spend a Sunday.
