As one of the pending Greek tax refugees I was wondering if any Forumite had ever done the extreme right hand bit of the med. I know a few have crossed to Egypt but I have to confess a desire to do the the right hand bit. Any thoughts?

ATCL marina in Junie, lebanon is quite nice. I think it has a website with info, prices etc. Fuel, electricity, water, showers, swimming pools, tennis court, nice restaurant. The town is nothing special but Beruit is not far.
Or how about visiting Cyprus (well you will probably have to anyway to split the very long passage from the aegean)? Larnaca marina is a good choice. Or Limassol new marina if you have some extra cash to spend...

Whatever you do, I would leave Israel till last.
An Israeli stamp in your passport can cause some agro in certain Arab countries.

Or keep two passports - as far as I can see, you can apply for a "replacement" passport without any evidence of loss, and I understand that people travelling routinely in that part of the world are well advised to do so. Things may have changed, but at one time an Israeli stamp in a passport ensured you wouldn't be permitted to enter some Arab countries.

Have a look at the East Med Yacht rally website for some information. http://www.emyr.org/

I was going to join the rally this year but with so much middle east turmoil. the rally was cancelled.

Advice on passports is probably correct. Also I think it is best to enter Israel from Cyprus rather than Lebanon

Look for blogs of people who have done the rally

Please do make the trip and then post back. It is still on my bucket list

Had some friends do that trip and couple of years ago and really enjoyed it and no prolems. They should be Aigina around April so stay in touch and I will introduce you.

He`s actually in the yard, Dutch guy call Lol . his boat is Mistral, its parked close to where your boat was parked . I think he has led/organised the rally 4 times.

I heard that the last rally all went a little Pete Tong with all sorts of accusations of some rally yachts being abandoning the rally half way down the Red sea.
All hearsay but do do your due dilligence !

We were also hoping to do the EMYR next year and maybee on into the Red Sea but like others now feel that the Levant is just too hot at present.
UK Foreign office currently advise against travel to parts of the Red sea except established resorts so all in all we decided it just aint worth it.
Then this bloomin Greek tax thing came along
