I've got an Isotemp Basic 24 water heater which was new about 15 months ago. It was a display model so it was cheaper than list but it came with no guarantee (though that would be useless now anyway).

It's developed a leak, there is water running out in the gaps between the tank and the insulation jacket so clearly I need a replacement. The Isotemp Basic 24 fits very nicely in the limited space I have so I'm considering getting another one.

Does anyone know whether there is a general problem with Isotemp water heaters? Should I be looking at another make and model or have I just been unlucky?

Many thanks all. :)

I recommend you approach the manufacturer, explain the problem and ask whether they would consider replacement or discount !!

I had a leakage problem with a leak and they supplied replacement heating coil gasket foc.

Always worth the approach esp. as you are considering getting an identical replacement, nothing to lose :-)

I have a Basic 24. I bought this model as it was easy to change the heating elements from 120v to 220v. The heating elements are very reasonably priced. I had the gasket around the mounting plate for the heating element develop a leak, so for around 35 euros, I was able to get a new element and gaskets. The only problem was removing the elements mounting bolts. Inside where the element is fixed to the mounting plate there was corrosion on both nuts. The element had a patina of copper oxide. I had to cut away one of the inner mounting bolts. When I refixed the new element, I used pipe sealant in hopes of reducing the corrosion.

All in all, the unit is very reliable and easy to maintain. It also heats from the engine. Webasto, the parent company, gave good service in finding a retail vendor.
