If the part is not available do not despair. I broke my gooseneck and made a new one. I wrote an article in PBO issue 551 August 2012 about repairing a worn gooseneck by inserting bronze bushes and fitting grease nipples. Subsequently that gooseneck which was made in poor quality cast alloy broke and I made a new one. I have a good workshop and made a quality job, but in essence the gooseneck is just a chunk of aluminium with two holes at right angles. You can make one by buying a suitable sized piece of aluminium alloy, and using no more tools than a hacksaw, files and a drilling machine. It should not be hard to find someone with the latter if you don't have one. If you mean that the boom end fitting is broken that is more of a problem.
Aluminium welding is a pretty specialised job, and a bit of a last resort. If its the centre part that has broken its easier and safer to make a new one as these things are often cast aluminium alloy. The one I broke had a crystalline inner structure and its a bit of a surprise it lasted as long as it did. If its the boom end fitting that has broken, rather than the easily replaced middle bit, then welding might be the only viable option.
