Rather alarmist, isn't it?

That's not "Closed" at all, is it? How could it be? It's part of the UK.
It’s really simple. They‘re simply following the advice from the government about no unnecessary travel.
Calmac has announced that, apart from freight, they’re only open to islanders returning home or needing to get to the mainland. Isle of Scilly Steamship Co has adopted the same rationale. Channel Islands the same with the addition of 14 days quarantine.
The last thing these isolated communities need is outsiders arriving and dumping the virus on them or, equally, falling ill and taking up limited resources.

They are "closing" some small islands off the coast of France that are still French. Can you imagine the issues of getting a patient or 10 to hospital in Truro if CV19 broke out?

All those resposes are complete non-sequiturs.

My response was to an inaccurate and alarmist headline that stated "Scilly Isles Closed to...)

When the reality published by the very same poster clearly states "Request to all recreational vessels"

This is how fake news happens

The message is clear, they've just phrased it as politely as possible. You're splitting hairs over a thread title.

Boris had requested that people voluntarily , stayed home.
That got completely ignored, by a load of irresponsable people.
So, now , due to pressure from other countries, who were going to refuse entry to flights & ships, from the UK, due to his inaction, it sounds like Boris is putting away the polite carrot, and is getting ready to clamp down & use the smacky stick.
That should get the message across !

To be honest it seems that all the pictures and videos taken were of the London Tube , and Richmond Park and cars driving into London, and the traffic Jam up to Snowdonia , I think the vast Majority of the country are trying their best under the circumstances and what really amazes as a diverse amount of people on here no one is travelling buying bog paper or hogging all the pasta

Are you trying to say you don't know the difference between request and compulsion?
I don't believe you.
You'd make a lousy bus driver, wouldn't you?

Rubbish

We live in Llangollen, the place was as full as a Bank Holiday weekend! Wazzocks from Brum wandering up our lane to the bridlepath. Castell Dinas Bran, an endless stream wandering up to the summit!

it’s not fake news and visitors are definitely not welcome in the current crisis, whether you come by yacht, plane or ferry.

Best wishes to the islanders, please, Scilly Pete.

It does however worry me that if the islands can be kept clear of the virus for, say, 3 months, all the islanders will still be vulnerable to catching it thereafter. Perhaps the virus will have to be introduced in a few months time otherwise the islanders will not be able to travel to the mainland where a large proportion of the population will have had the disease and be resistant to it.

Indeed. My local town was tumbleweed city today. And as for the tube ... what did the wazzocks expect to happen when they slashed the number of services? It's the same with commuter trains in Glasgow - packed with people who still have to work. They really, really didn't think that through.

You are a bit of a specialist in casuistry, aren't you ? Fake news ? Twerp
No need to insult - nor to use words you do not understand. The ability to tell the difference between compulsion and a request has nothng whatsoever to do with casuistry, it is merely the understanding ofvery very simple english words which was all I was pointing out and is most certaily not splitting hairs.
Casuistry, if any has been applied here, is in the hands of those who lectured me about the nature of one's welcome in the islands, something I had made no comment on whatsoever and is competely unconnected with wilfully misunderstanding simple english.

Headling a "Ban" when in fact it is a request not to visit is, in most reasonable peoples' minds most certainly faking the news.
