Island Packet Estero gallery now available

I daren't look. The pics in the mag were enough - what an ulgly beast it is. A giant bloated yellow pig.

Even uglier than a Centaur.

Hmm, I feel a 'What's the ugliest boat thread' coming...

I'd like to know what Island Packet did to get this coverage. This boat is in YM and PBO as well as Sailing Today.
Are they perceived as a great provider of revenue by way of advertising? Did they wine and dine and take sailing the appropriate people? I'd love to know. This is a pretty ordinary American boat - why the big deal in the UK boating press?

Island Packet Estero? Really Ugly boat

No sense of style whatsoever, and the cost of it. Who would spend over £200,000 for that thing?

I think maybe if you've seem one in the flesh and had a few days aboard it may be a bit of a grower. It's certainly not you're standard benjenbav

For that money, I'd have a Morris myself

I'd like to know what Island Packet did to get this coverage.

They had a boat available in August, typically a drought in terms of new boats, as every boat builder and their dog is holding off new boat launches until the Southampton boatshow. Nearly all of the boats aren't ready/finished until the show, or shortly before it so they all missed the press deadlines for the November issues

IP were the only people to make their new boat, that hadn't been tested, available to the press.

Hence their coverage

I think . . .

.
I think it looks great, would have one in a shot.

We have been entertained on board an IP38 and loved it. Everything works. For me IP has always been the epitome of a sensible balance between long distance sailing performance and liveaboard comfort and convenience. If that isn't your thing then this is not your boat.

The keels never fall off though :D

I like anything that looks a bit different and also performs in one or two key areas - space/comfort and quality. I could live with the sails doing saily things by themselves, if I had to.
£250k is not unreasonable as it compares both in quality and concept with Nauticat.
