Is your Standard Horizon CP300 or CP300i working .. GPS Rollover?

I hope you can get one. I asked for one last year and was told that it would be the last. SH stopped making their chartplotters.

I got a C-Map updated last September through their agents in Dover; the chap that performed it said he hoped he could give the whole thing an update if I took my plotter in at the same time - CP300, but alas when I collected it later it was only the chart that could be updated.

Thanks for the answers, looks like I should be OK. Didn't want to spend money on the chart update to find my now discontinued and ageing plotter (which I really like) is a victim of the GPS date rollover.

I have the impression, and that's all it is, that my current out of date chart has been causing the interaction between the plotter and the autopilot to become increasingly erratic. I have a sneaking suspicion that the difference between what the chart plotter thinks is magnetic north, and what the compass and the autopilot think is magnetic north, have been drifting further and further apart over the last few years. (I use Navionics at the chart table, and that is regularly updated so I have up-to date charts on board, paper too, but because of the cost and effort to update my C-Card, I use the helm plotter for overviews and sending a track to the autopilot - the difference between the plotter magnetic bearings for the track and the compass can be up to 10° ... it all works eventually, but when engaging the autopilot, it can set off in the wrong direction until corrected by the cross-track error.

I ended up putting manual deviations in the plotter to lessen the effect - hopefully the new chart will improve the situation. Otherwise, the CP300 is a fantastic little plotter IMO.

I have been told by SatLink Galicia that: "I am sorry, but the chart that you want, it is obsolete.
And there is not support for charts Cmap Nt and Nt Max."

I have been sent hither and yon, with a complete lack of service. Frankly I hve no idea if what they have told me is true.

Cmap gave up supporting their own standard of data card. SH gave up making chart plotters. So I have a CP300i and CP390i with old charts. They both work as plotters, radar display, AIS display, etc.. so my plan is to keep Navionics et Al on a tablet with up to date charts to check routes for chart changes.

May 2019 thread ?

Yep some oldies get resurrected .... but all interesting ...

I found it interesting looking at the specs of the CP300 .... quite a machine ..... shame that CMap no longer support the Nt and Max for it.
But like my old Lowrance .... at end of day - so little has changed that _ I can still use it for general nav. If I want updated cartography - then Navionics on my tablet supplies that ...

Some clever dicks may ask why I use the old Lowrance when I have a new Onwa ......... I have more than one boat !!
