Is This The Last Straw For Boating In Spain ??

I would think that is the last thing that Spain need at the moment !! That is the 1st I have heard on the subject, surely news is only old if you have heard it already. I will look in the older posts to see what has been said. It is a shame some "people" on here can't point people to an older post with a little more politeness. Thank you for taking the time to put a link to it rallyveteran.

"This should scare anyone away from Spain that is still there !"

Why should it scare anyone away, that part of the world including the Med has one thing that the UK/ northern europe cannot boast,a fairly certain promise of decent warm sunny weather for the greater part of the year, something you cannot "buy" at any price elsewhere.
Suspect that many of our Med based forumites count their blessings that they have the time and the folding money to enable them to enjoy advantages that many posters on here can only dream about.
The days of bargain boating enjoyed by many for a long time is rapidly disappearing and with berthing costs/expences probably reaching parity with the UK it may be worth living in Spain but moving your boat somwhere cheaper, such as the UK
Ryanair do some really cheap flights and you could get from Malaga to Gatwick for a nice weekend on the Solent in only about 3 hours........and the food and drink is cheaper here too.......

By the way if they apply the "law" to the boat being here more than 183 days instead of the person (see last MBY article) then Spainish Marinas are doomed

Vagabond... You must be living too far away then, I think the divide must be about half way across the Tasman Sea.

If you could just drag your little islands west a bit more....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It might be an old thread but if it's that old why haven't we heard any developments on here.

From the link... [ QUOTE ]
"The central government in Madrid handed out the right to impose this tax to the regional governments and now they are very active in levying it," he explained although so far Valencia is the only autonomous region in Spain to demand payment.

One British man from Stafford said those who had not yet paid the tax were willing to fight it through the courts if necessary. "We are joining forces and are preparing a legal defence and we will take it all the way to the European Court of Human Rights if we have to,"

Anyone heard how this group are getting on? It's seems very strange that only one area would enforce a spanish law and after so long. (mentioned1992)

Suncoast, was it only this that made you move to Gib?
