Is this fitting a halyard diverter?

I'm pretty sure that this fitting is a halyard diverter - my new genoa furling system (proFurl) doesn't require one, so I'm planning to remove it, but before I do, I just wanted to double-check that it wouldn't have been used for the spinnaker block.

Any advice gratefully received, TIA.

Looks to be that sort of thing, but it does seem to me rather lightweight compared to the size of the mast and pulleys above, and rather closer to the masthead pulleys than I'd normally expect to see one. Would probably do that job, though, depending on the relative height of the fitting at top of the genoa furler.

(It's generally reckoned you want the genoa halyard coming away from the forestay at an angle of 15 degrees, to give you enough tension in the genoa luff, and yet not allowing the fitting and halyard to rotate around the forestay nor putting too much sideways load on the forestay.)

it might be a diverter but are you sure it wasn’t used as a turning block for a snuffer or similar?
Good idea. Seems more convincing to me.

There is a coloured sail in the locker, it does have a what I think is called a snuffer on it, so that could make sense, and would explain why it is flimsy for a diverter.

What is the toggle fitting to mast below it ?

Normal diverters are folded metal without sheave ... and as another says - its too close to the halyard sheaves at masthead ..

Would like to see a larger area photo if possible ... showing halyards / forestay / furler ... a decent section photo of the masthead arrangement ..

I am not at the boat for a while to take another photo, the toggle fitting below is for an inner forestay.

That block is for a spinnaker.

OK ..

The forestay then ?

Looking at your photo - it gives impression that spinnaker block sits in conflict with forestay ? The amount of room up there is cramped !

Apologies if I'm veering off topic ... just remarking on that masthead .... and is why I think a better view of more of the masthead would be a good idea ..
