is this a sailspar furler, are they good?

Yes they are good. If u have room fit a bottle screw to u can adjust all stays, otherwise it's real pain setting it up from the fixed forestay and adjusting the back stay(s). Later models of Staysure were fitted with adustable forestays, I think.
Down side is that the gib is a bit higher and that the luff length of the foil is a bit shorter so make sure the foresail fits!! Don't ask how I know.

great thank you, im having the rigging renewed so will mention that to the rigger (got the boat in aug last year and have yet to sail it)

Sail spar are a quality bit of kit, very pleased with mine.
Yours seems to be missing the furling lines so you or your rigger need to know how to splice a continuos loop.

many thanks for advice. there are people at the club that can splice. My rigger has taken away the furler for now with the rest of the original rigging.

Utterly brilliant quality product. Used one over 20 years. David Beech is very helpful.

When I was fitting mine it started to rain and the instructions disolved. When I phoned to get a replacement David Beech offered to come to Burnham and show me how to do it. Well above the standard of customer care I expected.
I am pleased to hear they are still going strong, I'd heard there were difficulties a while ago.
