Is there anything better than this for carrying one litre of spare petrol?

I'm pretty sure you can buy fuel bladders. They come in different capacities and are so compact because they are basically vacuum sealed bags that can lie flat, Maybe an option.

Human fuel only by the look of those. I ordered a couple of the 1.5L rectangular ones linked above. Can be neatly strapped to the inside of the transom on my SIB for excursions up river. Very tidy solution and just right size for a refill,

You can definitely get them for combustible fuels, My mate carries a 3L one for spare, bought at local Chandlery, As his bow locker is tiny and bladder is his only option of carrying spare fuel and keeping it tied down.
Maybe the one i linked was the wrong type, Sorry.

I used to carry 1Litre of fuel on MCC Trials and Enduro's.

I used an empty oil container......................................
I considered that before spending a considerable amount on those bottles but they are really designed for one use and the caps are not quite secure enough for my liking. Cheap though!

Well, strapped to the rear mudguard of an enduro motorbike for 75 miles my one - a Morris Oil 20/50 container - never spilt a drop.

Despite it being on its side for some time.

I consoled myself that it was not my poor off road riding but that it was a Japanese motorbike, it was a long way from home and it felt safer lying down.

One thing that I like about these forums is that people ask questions that I never thought to ask. I didn't realise that I needed a small fuel can until the question was posed. I've just ordered a 1.5 litre FuelFriend which will be ideal for storing 2 stroke fuel for my outboard or emergency home generator.

I got one of the Fuel friend plus last year for the dinghy outboard - not cheap but very strong - 1l size. Much better than a plastic drinks bottle and much smaller than the traditional 5l petrol container.

I mentioned them too, but having looked yesterday and today I can't actually find them any more. It looks as though Sigg have passed the fuel bottle over to MSR and themselves now only do drink bottles. Probably wise given the huge market for water bottles in 2019/2020 but we'll see if that market recovers or if people go back to plastic rather than use shared public taps which have touched other people's bottles.

Oh shit! That just reminded me I've already got an MSR one in the attic for a multi-fuel stove I haven't seen for many years. Because it lives in the same bag as the stove I never viewed it as a separate fuel container. F***s sake  So to answer my question is there anything better than buying something new, yes, use the one that I already own.

Still the FuelFriend ones I ordered are more suitable than that type which is what I was hoping for

Nobody mentioned a Trangia? Very good for controlled use...
Oh nice, this one? Trangia Fuel Bottle with Safety Valve: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors I hadn't seen those. But I have a swedish army trangia stove that came with a little plastic bottle for fuel and it uses so little there's no need for bigger unless I was hiking in snow and needed to melt it/boiling lots of water to drink maybe. But for cooking it hardly uses any.

The FuelFriend having a wide enough neck for filling from the pump or bigger petrol cans is really a huge advantage. Much more easily lashed down than a round bottle too. Seems to be the winner so far
