Is there a responsible way of geting rid of old electronics......

......such as Kindles, Walkpersons, GPSes, smart phones. dumb phones, Navaids....etc? I would be more willing to buy new technology even if my older gear works well if I knew I could do something useful with the older unit. I do not like putting decent, working gear into the rubbish bin and I cannot be alone. Should not providers / retailers be liable for accepting old stuff and sending it to a responsible recycling agency?

Or do they? Anyway, they don't min Spain !!!
