Will need to collect my car from Hamble after collecting boat and returning to Hythe. Wondered whether there is some sort of "hopalong" bus service from Hythe to Hamble Point?

Only one I know of is called, Hythe ferry to Town Quay, then Town Taxis to Hamble point. Others probably know better though. When are you there? I'm down in OV on Friday pm, will happily "taxi" you if thats any good? Paul

Very kind of you Paul but I would not impose.

That was basically my plan but I'm tight so wondered whether there is an alternative method.....

Thanks

Nick

Hythe ferry to Town Quay, Shanks' pony to So'ton Station (or there may be a bus), South West Trains to Bursledon, throw yourself off Bursledon Bridge and drift down river to Hamble...

On balance I'd taxi it from Town Quay. There may be public transport alternatives, but why risk your sanity finding out? /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Alternative Strategy

How's this

1) Drive to the HAmble, pick up boat take to Hythe.
2)Hythe ferry to town Quay
3)Cowes ferry from town quay
4) Jump off as it passes the Hamble
5) swim to spit
6) walk to car

Get the Hythe Ferry to Town Quay, dont get a taxi it will cost you between 20 and 30 quid. Get the free little green bus up to Asda, takes approx 3 min and comes along every 10min. Walk along opposite West Quay and cut to the main high street and get the number 16, stops at the top of the lane for Hamble Point and goes right into the centre of Hamble. Its one every hour but not sure, think it is either 10 to or past the hour. Will take you about an hour, but i drive it in about 20 min depending on the traffic so for public transport thats not too bad.

Doesn't that hair shirt get a bit painful at times!

Take it off and take up the offer of a lift.

Solitaire just wants to prove that he can get from the Hythe to Hamble on a thimble full of diesel.

Col just wants to prove that he can get from the Hythe to Hamble without losing a prop.

Planty just wants to show off his boat (and why not).

I could also give you a lift but I know which option I would take /forums/images/icons/wink.gif.
