Is there a better or more sought after than a decent 2 stroke 6/8hp Yamaha

I'm really struggling with the notion that there is a different emission compliance regulation for commercial or non-commercial use. Possible this is one for Latestarter1?

I read a lot of great reports about the thohatsu 9.8, but will it last as long as these Yamahas ? Time will tell.
The fact is that there are still plenty of 6 and 8 hp yams from the 70's in frequent use today.
As there are evenrude and Johnstone...to a lesser extent.
My feeling is that in general any of these 2 stroke 2 cylinder engines of that kind of size are superb. There is no way the newer 4 strokes can compete and will. Ever last as long.
They are dropping weight recently, but at the cost of refinement and no doubt reliability.
6hp 2 cylinder super powerful and smooth 2 stroke or a single cylinder lumpy and painful to the ear modern 4 stroke ? It's a no brainer, if you are lucky enough to have the choice.

It doesn't say they are legal. I have not come across a different compliance reg category for racing or commercial. With vehicles there were differing regs for weight of vehicle, but these are now converging. RCD boat regs only make a differentiation between inland or coastal waters to my knowledge. Could be wrong though.

I'm not quite following either but it is what it is. Owning and using a two stroke isn't illegal, at least I hope not for I am. Either way in the small fast fisher scene they appear to be getting their hands on them with regular ease. And they are quite cheap which is the real kicker. ~1.2k ex VAT

Not wishing to get this thread sinbinned into the Brexit bucket, but the EU ban isn't going to apply much longer.
In the mean time, I don't see why you can't start your own not-very-successful fishing charter business.
