Is there a better forum for the new boat owner?

Hi D - hope you're doing ok. Good reply. Unfortunately, I think there are two or three new users here determined to try and wind the forum up a bit.

Cheers
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

Fine thanks, be even better when Col sorts my turbo's

I suspect you are right.

Have you tried the new cafe at your marina? We were in a few weeks ago. You must have been elswhere.

Hope you are getting out on your new boat.

Not the best of starts.

I came on here in 2005 when I first launched my little 21 footer, which I still have.

I don't think that without the help and advice I got on here I would even left the marina, but the best advice was to go and do my Power Boat 2 course.

I did it and with the continued advice and encouragement from here, I am competent enough to be allowed out by myself, even to the point that I was able to assist in the rescue of two souls from a burning boat earlier this year.

I know the search facility on here is not that good, but you can guarantee that just about every boat related question has been both asked and answered at some time, so if you don't like us, bugger off and google the answers to the questions you need and with a bit of perseverance you will find them.

Prince or pauper, all boaters are welcome here, but get used to the banter, especially when you are as uptight like you seem to be.

The other thing you need to realise is that during the season, even when it is pissing down with rain, we like to post our trip reports and other tittle tattle, but once the winter closes is, the real subjects you are so keen on, get aired and discussed.

Maybe you need to gain a bit of patience or pay for your boating education, 'cause like you, we are mostly amateurs.

This is a great forum, and one of the reasons it is so good is the diversity of posters on here.

As a rule, it doesnt matter what you have, where you come from or where you are going just so long as you opt in to the spirit of the forum.

I have had my fair share of disagreements but I have received vastly more help and encouragement over the years and I would like think given a bit of help back the other way.

This is one of those things in life that the more you put in, the more you will get back out. There is no better wealth of boating knowlege on the net so if you really want to get involved please stay a while, read a bit, ask some questions and share your experiences.

There is always room for one more...

Just read your first post and looked at your bio.

So you're a Welsh elf and safety chappie with a chip on his shoulder,oh and you live in England.

My advise to you is, stay with us, you will fit in quite nicely, you will also get some very sound advice and a lot of help, but here is not the place for your "chip on shoulder" rantings, this is the motor boat forum where HONEST advice is given and should be taken as such.

So that said, may I invite you to the Lounge where you can say allmost what you want, air your views, tell people to [--word removed--] off (in the nicest possible way) The choice is yours but at the moment i'm not sure if you are a troll or twat, time will tell
