I fancied doing the World ARC and had a look at their website to find out what was involved, why don't they just have a price on their website, is the cost a secret?

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place, or looking at the wrong event...........

Any assistance gratefully accepted.

I don't think your link gives the details of the World ARC (the next of which open for entries is 2010). The cost has to be found by completing the enquiry form on the World ARC pages.

Thanks but why don't they just have the prices where everyone can see them?

It's like trying to join a health club, aks at reception only to be told that someone from sales will come and talk to me. Try phoning, same response, whey don't they just publish the price without trying to hit folk with the hard sell crap?

Rant over /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

maybe cos its so expensive they need the hard sell crap otherwise people would just put the phone down.
as far as i am concerned the only way to cross the atlantic is with four trent engines under your wings
or Olympus ones at the back

Rec'd email the other day saying World Arc 2008 has 47 entries and is now full, with further 15 on a waiting list. As you say they are taking entries for 2010. Seem to recall ARC costing £4000 but, hey that could be my memory playing tricks. Just for interest sake would like to know.

Mind you as my boat isn't 38' she wouldn't qualify, but that's a whole seperate debate /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you want company just ask around to who is going where and when. Its a lot cheaper, so long as you have the time! That is what we've been doing, or trying to do.

We're off to the Med May this year, crossing the Atlantic in 2008 and through the Panama (I hope its still open not closed for widening, can't imagine all those floating cones!) in Jan/Feb 2010. Possibly through Panama in 2009 if we don't fancy the states (northern bit)during the hurricane season.

Re: Is the cost of the ARC value for money?

So, that would be a 'NO' then, and probably a resounding one!

...thinking about it, how about a 'Jester ARC'? Similar, but all self-help, low cost, just for fun? (no size limit...)

Anyone thought of it?

actually have lots more hols this year
altho swmbo is making dark mutterings about decorating house
apparently the previous occupants twenty year old walpaper is ''looking patchy''
that wonman has no idwea about character.

I don't have the papers in front of me now, but basically both the World-ARC and the Blue Water Rally cost in the range of 10,000 GBP.

The world-ARC starts and returns in the caribbean, so you may have to add the cost of ARC and ARC-Europe if you want to leave and return from Europe in a rally.

As already said by others, the 2008-2009 event is fully booked now, while there should still be some vacancy in the BWR.

In my opinion, the main problem with the World-ARC is that, due to routing reasons, from Australia onwards it is more a delivery trip than a cruise, and only suitable to fast boats (i.e. large and fully-crewed).
