Is she a Harrison Butler?

Blackwater Sloop? Hmmmm, now you have my attention, lovely little boats, I quite like Hillyard 2 1/2 tonners as well.

Still good luck with your current hole in the water! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

To my un-trained eye she has similarities above and below the water line to my boat - Reg Freeman desgined, built at J & J in 1935.

The Seagull Oil and Smoke re-distribution unit!!

Seagull Oil Smoke??????........SOS???? Hmmmmmmmm? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Okay, I'll come clean, I Love my two Seagulls, (featherweight with recoil and breakerless ignition and Short shaft Century with five blade prop), Dolphins I also rate highly....always start and trouble free as any diesel. However, Vires, in my experiance don't like to start when hot, and Stuart Turners don't even make good anchors!
Actually thats a bit mean, they have there place in classic launches and boats with sails or oars! Apparently they start really well if you take the mag to bed with you! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Just thought she had a certain likeness, but you are a lucky chap to have one. Lovely boats IMHO /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually there is quite a variety of Deben 4 tonner designs out there. I have seen coachroof's, doghouse's and a raised topside design. I believe they were all collaborations between William Maxwell Blake and Whisstocks , but the hull shape was the same for all designs (shame Mirelle is not here to correct me). Susan does not have the draft or sheer to be a D4Tonner.

Aftet the war Whisstocks started to modify the deck layout. Wren 1947 was the first to have the ful width coachroof. My father who owned Avena 1953 always told me that the post war Debens had an extra plank on the shear. Having looked at lots of them I tend to think this is quite correct.
