On p1 at the moment:

~ 4 threads about windfarms

~ One thread by someone moaning about wasting time in the Lounge

~ One thread on computer problems

~ Two threads taking the p1ss out of the computer problem thread

~ One 'Oh look its snowing so much for global warming' thread

~ One thread by Webcraft whinging about other threads not being sufficiently boaty

Is this still a sailing forum?

No point in the Lounge now as it is full of warmists telling nylons they are unbelievers and then having hissy fits when they are told the warmists are wrong.

Maybe we need A Snug, where political and religious talk is banned.

Or, political and religious chat should be sent out to The Car Park.
 
Windfarms is boaty if they is in the sea. News on telly showed hundreds of the things filling up the Irish sea, N sea & Eng Channel. We will have trouble planning passages thro the damn things - and I like them!

For once Webby I agree with you . far too much off topic posts on here .Far too many sad posters who just post any old rubbish all day !!
 
I think your avatar should get to the point and say "the end of the world is nigh!". Or maybe mention other historical highs in CO2 levels. Or just ditch it since it seems 50% of your thread is a giant Climate Change billboard, and hence yerv got no room to talk yer blimmin lentil stirrer you...

Harumph, back to your original question....as regards scuttlebutt, the rot started with dateslip whatever - the thing that makes the most-recently-added-to post come to the top - as a default. Much better when the newest thread was at the top and you had to find the gnarly ole boring thread. Let's face it, even a very intresting converstaion doesn't last weeks and weeks. And this longevity of threads means people are deterred from starting new ones. And so it's like a dull old pub, instead of a vibrant whizzzy one. Also not much me or jimi throwing chairs about i spose, but that's prolly an improvement ahem...

And maybe al the original questions have been posed and answred praps? And also bulletin chat forums have had their day.

Tough call but on reflection yes too many off topic, agree with TCM that the last thread going to the top of the tree is a problem.

Cruisers & Sailing Forum use the same forum format and they have divided fora into more specific divisions which I find to my liking

Well for once I do .. Sometimes you just want to express an opinion to the wide open world and not just to those who log on to see the lounge .. The lounge does seem a strange place on occasions and a topic can certainly receive very mixed views before being hijacked and go completely off topic ..

So for once Sailorman I agree ..
 
I think its a touch of cabin fever Webby, I was going to highlight the number of contentious threads we have seen just recently, Baverias, Life jackets, Flares, compulsory training, plus of course the environmental threads you refer too.

Problem is, long Christmas holiday, then everyone stuck at home 'cos of the snow.

Anyway, I'm off to start a new thread, now what havent we had yet, mobo/raggy, col regs, Mmm let me see, I've got it! Lets go start a thread about how useless CQR anchors are!!
 
Yes, now if one were minded , one could keep a thread going ad infinitum with this system.

Of course if we wanted to get the system changed, we could keep this one going.
