Is it still worth while sailing the Dutch canals ?

Now the Dutch have really made it ! All the boats longer than 33 ft need a pilot from Land en Waterschap to sail through the Dutch canals.

Although we keep our boat in The Netherlands, I don't understand a single word. I will have to get SWiMBO on it. Her Dutch may not be up to much, but her German is better than most Germans and she can make a pretty good go at Dutch, so we should be able to get the gist.

My mother tongue is Flemish-Dutch, and I can't find any reference to this on the page mentioned. Haven't taken apart the whole site, however. As much of this sort of info passes through my mail, I should know, and haven't heard this story....
