Is it ok to wear fingerless sailing gloves

Yup. They work well in preventing my office worker hands from getting chafed and sore. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I learned a long time ago that only a fool gets cold (not relevant to fingerless gloves obviously) and uncomfortable because of fashion and anyway I'm generally not close enough to other boats for them to see my fashion faux pas. And if I was, they'd have plenty of other more important things to get started on. My belief that Crocs make great cruising shoes for one...

In the Med so fingerless gloves for sheets and anything likely to give rope burn. However builders gloves for handling the mooring lines (slime line/lazy line) as the crustaceans can rip your hands with ease.
