Is it my imagination?

Best not to speculate. In the feedback thread FAT warned us not to do so--------then deleted the thread. Welcome to the brave new world.

I have to say that I find the current FAT's approach to be both refreshing and entertaining.

I started the thread and I may have revealed that it related to an intention to sell our Moody S31 when my wife was advised not to sail any more, (which actually is fact), the thread was a plea for advice on how best to proceed. I received a PM from the Mods advising that they planned to delete the thread at 23-00 but did not visit here to read it before that happened. My interpretation is that one should avoid real situations and only deal in the theoretical? Either that or a broker has not liked what someone might have said (some responses were a bit critical of the profession).
The responses were useful to me, pretty balanced either way and I would like to have read them through again but anyway I will take this opportunity to thank anyone who took the trouble to give me advice.

I decided to keep stum for fear of being banned, if you don't get any more of my pearls of wisdom you wil know that has happened.

Wow .... shock, horror!

You mean it was suggested that some brokers aren't necessarily fonts of knowledge on all types of boats, by all designers, by all builders?

You mean it was suggested that some brokers are not always absolutely on the ball with, for example, their communications?

Do we have to pretend that all boating-related businesses/ professions are perfect?

That’s pretty poor show if that is the case.

Are we now prohibited from asking questions on how to do DIY on our boats lest some industry professionals loose out on some business?

I read the thread before it was deleted and I do not recall reading anything that could offend anyone. Buying and selling boats is part and parcel of yachting. If we are no longer allowed to discuss those aspects, this forum will be the poorer for it. It might occur to the mods that traffic on the forum has slowed markedly over the last few years. This is not going to enliven things, on the contrary. Another anchoring thread anyone?

I agree. And the OP is a long time forum member, boat owner and contributor, not somebody who gets into controversy.

The forum moderators have crossed over a line in my opinion, preventing discourse on a key element of boat ownership.

Careful, "denigration of the Moderators, Admin or other Future Plc. employees, contractors and agents" is banned by clause 4.3 of the forum rules. We wouldn't want to see you put on the naughty step.
