Is my computer the only one?
Sometimes when trying to post it tells me it wont post it as there is a problem. then when I go back, check it is ok, then try to repost it tells me I have already done it!!!

Is this senility on its steady path, or do I have company?

There is definitely something going on with the site's server....I tried three times to post my question earlier this evening and on each occasion my computer crashed the second I clicked the post button, I'd had no problems up till then. The forth time I got a message as I accessed the site telling me the server had suffered and internal error and was shutting down.....So chaps it's not you......it's......THEM....

Apologies

We are getting some database errors at the moment and a major software upgrade is planned. It was due to appear last week but for various reasons we had to postpone it.

It is likely I need to ask you to be patient until later into July for the new system.

Meantime if you post and see an error or don't get an acknowledgement screen it is worth opening the forums in a second window and checking to see if your post is actually there; often it is.

We are currently showing about 14,000 successful posts each month so the majority are not glitching.

One final thing -- I would not anticipate anything happening on here to be causing system crashes on remote machines -- if that is happening there may be local issues too.

Bulletin Board

Perhaps a change of BB is indicated, the current one is quirky, loses posts, doesn't respond, reports incorrect new posts and is qiute slow - mostly.

What about iB or vB??

Re: Apologies

Hi Kim,

Thanks for that.
I was not up to date with your software upgrade and did not realise it had not been done yet.

I have had nothing odd happen to the computer my end, just erratic posting, which I gather from my response is problems shared!!! Nice to know I wasn't being selfish by keeping all the cock ups to myself.

You probably dont need to........the back button on your browser should take you back to the entry so you can send it again

quite frequently the back button takes you back to an empty page, so you have lost the pearls of wisdom that took ages to compose. Please dont tell me it is my computer not up to speed cause I dont believe that (amd 3.2 Gb 64 chip, 512 mb ram, XP Pro, 512 cable modem)

seems to work most times for me.....
I do experience the problems and have got into the habit of opening a second window as Kim suggests....I also sometimes copy the body text so that I can paste it again if all else fails.....

.....arent computers fun ! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
