Hi,
I've just been out on the River Wyre with my daughter in our Hunter Europa. We manage to get out 1 1/2 hours either side of high water, we've got a drying mooring. It's been blowing Force 5/6 according to the forecast, we had two reefs in the main and the foresail well furled, we still dipped the toe rail in the water and got plenty of green stuff in the cockpit!
We go sailing on a very tight budget, I payed £2000 for our Hunter. If I never go sailing again after today I would say it was money well spent we haven't stopped smiling yet and can't wait to get out again.
Cheers, Ian. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Water in the cockpit?? Toerail in the water???? Youve been had mate. Thoroughly dangerous and unseaworthy. Flog it to some mug punter quick!

Thank goodness that there is the true spirit of sport and fun... Do you think Larry Ellison gets as much fun out of his $260m latest toy ?

John

good for you, dont listen to the moaners, they are just jealous that you can have more fun than them without wasting untold money.
Some of them just havent got the endurance or the balls to go proper sailing, only sticking their nose out when the flags droop. You enjoy y'self mate. What dy'a get out of her? 7 - 8 kts.?

crossing Lyme bay, wind from the WnW f5 >6 with prolonged gusts, 1 reef + working jib, outboard dragging, two on board + related kit + tools, speedo bested at 10.5 ( surfing short five foot waves) running average was 7.5 kts. Gps confirmed with readings of 12 kts surfing, 9 average,
little boat with exceptional lines and pedigree, well sailed,
mine might be for sale in a couple of seasons after re - fit

Hi again,
Yes my daughter did enjoy it, I think I have a crew until she discovers alcohol or a new boyfriend, she's inbetween at the moment. As to how much we got out of her I couldn't tell as we haven't got a log yet, I don't think I would have read it though as I was too busy holding on!!
As to was it worth it, definitely yes!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Cheers, Ian.
