Is it a Bargain?

Ok so am a dinosaur so how do I pm (assume personal message) to PYB? Cheers.

Click 'private messages' at top left of the page, then 'send new message' in the menu list on the left hand side, and then put poweryachtblog in the 'recipient users' field, and follow your nose from there.

There’s a couple of P 46 ,s on my pontoon.

Anecdotally

1- the cockpit is small and with a table + a few directors chairs it looks cramped at meal times for them - very camping like
You see with the U.K. punters in mind they have blown out the saloon - indoor space ,which nobody uses in the Med .

2- where are you gonna lie down to sunbath ——- and guests at the same time ?
I see a couple on the bow cushions and the rest just mouch about with a envious look on there face :)knackered just wanting to find a place to kip .

Porto, are you sure they are 46's and not 40's or 42's? Cockpit on a 46 should be generous enough. Anyhow, flybridge seating converts to sunpad too.

Looks good to me.
Engine hours fine
Clean interior
Swim platform teak looks ok
Moored in swankiest Malta marina (campers&nicholson, Grand Harbour) so not neglected/penny pinching owner
Navy gear is junk and toilets are awful sealand vacuflush so I'd spend 12k changing them for decent gear.
I doubt it is in the Malta vat scheme because it is uk flagged and frankly too small for that scheme. In any case the Malta vat scheme is fine if executed correctly.

Princess 45 - very similar in size, probably easier to get back to the UK etc - any good?

I prefer the Princess 45 as it has longer bunks and the main seat in the salon wraps around at both ends. It is a year older and a little more expensive but still a reasonable price compared to those I have seen in the UK. It looks in good order from the photos which is a start. It also looks like the plotter is new'ish. Cheers

You might be too late for that one - already showing as 'sale pending' on BCU's own website.

Don't worry about it being a year older, it's all about condition.

I have seen this one and think I already called the broker. Shame as it looks uber tidy. I do know it needs a full survey and sea trial.

Sure Pete , I walk past them - stick a cockpit table ( fold up one as no OEM )and it's tight @ al fresco meals compared to others around 15 M iam surrounded by
Any how that's the compromise IMHO

Unlike JFM , chuck £ @ the bogs ( if that's another compromise ) I agree with him BTW - you can, t fix the small cockpit by throwing £ @ it .

Buying a tidgy table won, t really work either .
Op, a coverd the lack of outside Kipping space

Dropping tables on the fly or anywhere else- and arsing about with infill s is a fag on a boat too -

Just passing on what I did not want 2 nd time around

He's asking for advice
Cummins engined Cranchi 48 , s
Have huge outside spaces and a pretty high tech carbon fibre hull iirc ? So no GRP woes - well at the bottom of potential issues and £ spend
A bit narrow than the others = greater berth choices .
Made for the Med

I,ve got a Prinny 45 opersite and along two - same as that ^^^
They eat upstairs ,never seen them attempt to fit a fold up table in the cockpit .Is that a function of the FB steps carrying food ? Easily??
We also have a Prinny 50 FB same genre - both wearing well here in the Med .
Both local Fr owners live nearby and a bit ocd - only pop down @ WE ,s
You know cream carpets high gloss cherry etc - how ever it’s looks right - kinda “period features “ in estate agent speak .

There was Porto 53 in the SoF been doing the rounds last year , they sold it twice as it came back within 3/12 for as owner wanted a refund .
Last I heard it was stranded in Corsica with a busted D12 Exhaust manifold waiting parts and a 9issed off owner and SS were trying to arrange the fix - as inside the warranty/QUOTE]

I wondered what the S was going on with this boat as it kept disappearing and reappearing in BSM. I walk past it from my berth to the restaurants, chandlers, port office etc.

Probably a rare fault but you might want an assurance that the ECU which controls the throttles is in good functioning order.

Chum of mine had a P46 2004/5 ish with a habit of one engine shutting down for no obvious reason.
The investigation carried on for ages poss a couple of years starting with obvious stuff fuel lines and filters etc , the tanks being fitted with hatches and totally cleaned out, replacement fuel pump, hacking out various bits of loom and then doing away with various coupling plugs all in desperate attempt to solve problem.
Sometimes it happened immediately after leaving marina but more worryingly half way between a couple of Baleric islands.
Simple cure was to go downstairs turn everything off and then on again, it probably ruined the enjoyment of boat.
It turned out to be an ECU, which was either repaired or replaced and seemed to solve problem but to late and the boat was sold.
