I decided last year that The Lounge was a pretty nasty place hidden behind all the Friday Funnies and YouTube clips. So, I say to the current crop of "I'm outta here's" and "Goodbye Everbody's", forget The Lounge and keep your posts for the boaty rooms.

I haven't posted in The Lounge since last September and I can now feel slightly superior, but most of all that overwhelming feeling of paranoia has subsided to just 'mild paranoia'.

Just to make sure that this post has a boaty feel to it, I am currently looking at my boat and have to say, she is looking good.

There are some very sensitive folk around here. I think the Lounge has given us some interesting discussions on other subjects, I am not so single minded as to have no other interests beyond boaty ones, there are some amusing posts and I for one will be visiting it for some relaxation (that's what lounges are for, isn't it?) daily.

I think some of the kerfuffle is that posts that rightly should be discussed in the Lounge bleed onto other forums, witness the posts in the Classic Boat forum.

In my opinion, the 'Closing Down' post should have been removed and posted in the Lounge.

I sailed back (Ferry) from the Isle of Man on Sunday in the 'Quiet Lounge'.

That is how I treat The Lounge here. I may observe what is happening, but I don't speak out any more.

Isn't it just the normal cabin-fever season?
Once this awfull blustery weather settles down (hopefully) and people get back on the water things will die down.

Indeed - I was delighted when the Lounge was set up as it made the other forums almost civilised again.

And with all this talk of censorship, wouldn't it be nice if those irritating smilies and beer jugs were restricted to the lounge?

Are you sure ?? Some feel they should continue year round !!

Like you I feel saddened by some of the garbage in the lounge(there are some interesting debates also) .As a result i keep out .Its a shame that the lounge lizards cant confine their stirring to the lounge.

One or two people have publicly declared their distaste and intention to leave the forums .I personally know at least two people who have quietly stopped using the forums because of some of the distastefull stuff unfortunately theres probably dozens more.

Its a great shame that a tiny minority of loudmouth yobs are able to sour the whole raft of forums seemingly unchecked.

I left the forum altogether for over six months, but once I got my boat back from the dealers, my interest was reawakened.

I read the odd post in The Lounge, but I resist the urge to reply. Any future post to The Lounge will be confined to a non boaty question I may have, that will probably be answered by the huge cranial database out there. And of course, I will answer any question that falls into my area of expertise, which is pretty limited to start with.

For the moment though, I am wrestling with the question on how soon can I pack everything up here, write a 'So long and thanks for all the fish' letter to Number 10 and move to the IOM.

... and some who seem to think they can exercise some sort of control over other users, they tend to be the ones to stomp off when they find they can't. It is the internet and not to be confused with the real world at the end of the day.

Is there an end of the day on the internet?

I'm getting confused.

The day is just a different length for everybody which causes the confusion. I did find the end of the internet though, it is here. Took me ages to work my way back. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
