Is boat maintenance an essential journey?

As the diy shops are now open for anything including pot plants etc it would seem essential journeys are
what ever you wish them to be.
Really is time they opened the yards up.

My BC Marina have asked if they can launch my boat. I said a/ I dont know if engineer has finished minor out of water repair to rudder b/I cant drive to inspect boat but if rudder repair it should be ok c/ i cant drive to attend launch d/ i have no where to take it as moorings not ready and boats are piling up on the landing stage while club members wait till allowed to work on them d/ I cant move boat to moorings d/ I cant get back from moorings.

They said um - we are just exploring the idea. And thus we left matters till useless gov advises us a bit more

The yard is 5 miles away. There are several miles of harbour-side footpaths adjacent to it. So I can drive there to go for an hours walk on the footpaths but I can't drive there to do a few jobs on the boat.

That's exactly my take on it. I guess someone else might argue that driving five miles to a boat to do the kind of maintenance that gets your heart rate up is no different to driving to an allotment which *is* allowed according to the NPCC. Certainly, I regard doing my usual run/cycle ride with the kids and sitting on the boat for a breather is no different to sitting on a nearby bench so I'm happy to do that.
