Ipswich Marinas, Neptune v Haven

Generally the Haven, but not when there is a wedding reception having a party.

aha johnalison, so you were there saturday night as well then! the boom of the speakers did frustrate, then suddenly at 11.45 peace..... until the clear up gang turned up. Hatches closed again!
Disappointing that the bakery has gone.

Not recently; actually earlier this year, May/June perhaps. On another occasion it was a 'steel band' for a party. This would have been quite pleasant except that they were pretty hopeless and seemed to play the same tune repeatedly. Normally, we prefer the Haven as visitors but I think we will now avoid weekends since we belong to the idle senile.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, when we talk of tomorrow the gods laugh. Almost as soon as I had written the original post my sons phone went and he is away to sea Sunday, so he had to come back home ASAP. So it was back to Chatham from Bradwell for us. Anyhow I’m sure the info will be useful at some point in the future.

We were in Neptune for a couple of years and enjoyed it... the pub / bar at Isaacs can be rowdy on a Saturday night if you're on board - so a berth opposite them may not be good if that's a regular occurrence.

We moved to Shotley as we wanted to be at the other end of the river - we can always turn left up the Orwell if we want sheltered sailing, but it's a lot quicker to drive down the river than it is to sail down it, and at the end of a long trip we're home 1.5hrs earlier.
