Ipswich Marinas, Neptune v Haven

Other issue i find with Foxs, you need climbing gear to get up/down the pontoon ramps at LW !

Between Haven and Neptune, i'd go for Haven. Neptune is right on the side of the waterfront where there are loads of bars and eateries, people wandering around looking into the boats. Haven is more private and quieter.

What, less drunks than the other side

I was at the Haven for just over 12 years from the day it opened, and found it a generally good experience. Quieter than the Neptune side and better facilities but not much in it unless you are up the quiet lock end. The lock is easy to use singlehanded and staff helpful, but nice not have that wait anymore. Be aware of possible development on the “island”
I am now at Fox’s and find it a lot more sociable with a nice independent club. Being a working yard makes it interesting as well. The scrap yard has now moved nearer to the lock! But still can be an issue once or twice a year.

Depends what you want, a good quality boat park in a town centre with a bit of noise, or a good social scene and friendly environment.

We were in the Haven for several years berthed up at the lock end. Very peaceful. We moved cos the queues for the lock was getting tedious partic when the started locking the Bages in on their own and secondly cos we wanted somewhere we could easily take dogs for a decent walk.

So one other point that hasn't been mentioned, is the ablutions at Neptune are across the road and across the car park behind the office

Fox`s are having a new block to be built in 2007, c/w disabled access, baby changing & a laundry
I have a letter stating thats reason the fees were going up in that year.
I must say i can see any improvement to date, we cant even afford to replace the shower extract fan.

Much of a muchness really.

Haven side is easy parking, a tad quieter. But a longer walk to get food, eat out or get anywhere.

Neptune’s is close as you’ll get to anything, but if you’re on the closest side on the pontoons then might get someone stood at the fence making a noise.

I held a berth in Haven for 2.5 years but have stayed both there and Neptune’s when visiting back from Southwold and the Medway.

[plug]Other benefit of Ipswich Haven is you can make use of our full service boat yard [/endplug]
