As you will all know, BW and EA have removed the subsidy of £200,000 that they claim it costs them each year to run the Boat Safety Scheme. Built into the price of your boat safety test (by the examiner) is the cost of the pass certificate which the poor old examiner had to pay aprox £11.00 each. This has now been increased to aprox £24.00 each. The certificate has three copies. When you are issued with your certificate, the examiner keeps one copy for his records and the EA ask you to send them a copy leaving you with one copy. So the EA are charging owners for the certificate and then getting one copy back free of charge. Not from me they won't. If they want an original copy they will have to pay £8.00 for it. I suggest that all boat owners follow this line.
