Interior design advice

What kind of boat, shortening the settee seems extreme and and will damage the value of the boat forever. I am a joiner and have had considerable experience in fitting kitchens and equipment into camper vans. there is nearly always someway to shoehorn something into a small space with a bit of imagination.

removing the outer cabinet maybe daft, it leaves you with no warrantee and probably dangerous equipment.

post some more pictures and a plan of the layout or a link to a website.

She is a Sunbeam 44. More photos below - not of Nooka but sisterships from various vintages but the important bits are essentially the same. We have the forecabin with the lower cupboards and a berth on top. The cupboards are too shallow at the bottom. One option would be to extend them upwards to be like the alternative forecabin design (that would offer the added possibility of building in an additional fridge freezer, but with only 5 berths including that (excepting the saloon) I am slightly reluctant to do that. The hanging lockers either side of the aft cabin are again too shallow at the bottom because of the hull shape and not really any room to build upwards. Nowhere in the galley. Hence the saloon...

Thanks Geem - afraid swmbo does not do poking with a stick, even occasional. Except me from time to time. I have to say that my view is that if a boat does not have a locker big enough for a washing machine, it is too small a boat to be the sort to have a washing machine (if you see what I mean). But this is not about logic, it is about a quiet life, for which I am prepared to go to considerable lengths...

The tears from my eyes have stopped enough to thank you for this post. It has made my day, most likely my week! The Memsaab was in the room while I was laughing uncontrollably and just presumed I had finally lost it........
Good luck with your endeavours, I wish you much luck ! Red Green may have some tips......

Have a look at one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SMALL-COM...NG-2-8kg-TABLETOP-TRAVEL-WASHER-/310824315728

at £66 probably cannot get much cheaper and with dimensions @ 14.6 x 26 x 14.2 inches (WxHxD) (37 x 66 x 36cm)
and 7.4kg weight you must be able to find a locker to hide the damn thing in when SWMBO does not want to use it
With the added ability you could use it elsewhere or more importantly, when shes decided she does not want it you can float test it and not leave any unsightly mess in your saloon

Good luck
But I would not butcher my saloon for a washing machine in fact I would not butcher it for anything that was appliance specific because sods law says shortly after installation it will go wrong and the only available replcaement will be a diffrent size

I have a much better idea.......
Place washing in bag..........
Take tender up the river, place washing in machine in marina......
Go to pub and drink beer......
Return to now clean washing & place in tumble drier.......
Return to pub drink more beer...........
Return to now dry & clean washing, place in bag and pop back down the river..........
Everyone's happy !!
:)
Appreciate that the above is of absolutely no help at all but that would be my favourite !!!!

Well it seems it does exist. Bit costly, but what price not having to remodel exterior. One possible flaw is that apparently it is designed for a 60hz supply and UK (and I presume our gerator?) is 50hz. Some on a caravan forum suggestes tis means it is a no-go. Is that right? Isnt there some sort of hertz inverter thingy? Otherwise I think it is a winner, thanks Hadenough! And thanks to everyone else too!!!!

It would be my favourite too (SWMBO can never understand why I don't phone ahead to order a takeaway!) but this is for when we depart on our RTW trip where marinas may be in shorter supply (and money to pay for them also).

I had the same problem so how about one of these, (spin dryer part not much good so I bought a separate spin dryer. one of these, Koh-I-Noor - Eco-friendly Clothing Spin Dryer)
