Not enough bandwidth here to watch much of this, however...

About half of my keelboat sailing has been done in Bass Strait, the first 10 years in my Vertue , the next 10 in my current Sealord, the last 20 has predominantly been in the 'Southern Cone' of South America. The last 20 years of my day job also involved 180 - mas o minos - crossings of the Strait each year.
Its a great cruising ground. The weather isn't as bad as often suggested, in fact winters can be very settled. I used to reckon that there were 11 months of good weather, one month of bad and one week of horrible each year. The equinocial(sp) gales were the worst. Only real problem is that not many - in fact very few - anchorages give decent shelter from all winds. In summer when easterlies predominate you can visit some rather nice but open anchorages on the west coast of King Island such as Surprise Bay in the south and New Year Islands in the north - both with a fetch that stretches all the way westward to Argentinian Patagonia.

I'm getting kicked off the boat at the end of this week - the Cofradia Nautico is hosting the sailing segment of the Pan American Games and even members are being excluded for 10 days - so I'll be ashore with shoreside internet - I'll watch it then.
