Saw this and thought, just what I need, a new meter to go with my other 12.
Had a look. Meh!
But you do need one with a detachable Bluetooth display!!
They are the dogs!!

It would be really useful if it worked like a Picoscope and had digital storage oscilloscope capability.
I think it'll have microscopic market penetration, and the cost of electrical isolation and type approval will make it very expensive for what it is. Given that a fairly accurate multi range digital meter can often be had for a fiver, it would have to provide massive benefits.
Not the same, I know, but here's a related tool that added a lot of value for me: a pocket oscilloscope for £40-ish including probes etc: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270972259947
I meant whatever safety and construction legislation is applicable in the EU. Apologies for failing to be thoroughly specific.Who type approves oscilloscopes? Or do you mean CE certification?

+1 . Quite pleased with mine.
I have one of those, and I seem to use it a lot more than the big clunky Tektronix with a baffling array of buttons that bears of little brain like me can't figure out.

After fixing a broken PC monitor and my son's projector clock this morning, I commented to SWMBO how much value it added and the impact it could have had when I was an electronics student many years ago.
Useful for measuring voltages, frequencies, displaying signals, generating signals, etc. Given what it is, it does not have full multimeter functionality i.e. resistance, capacitance, etc but really good if you are building and/or troubleshooting digital circuits, etc.
Angus, what hope is there for the rest of us
I've been considering one of these as well, cheaper here: http://amzn.to/1tS2P3D
Another +1.
There's better software the name of which escapes me right now available as well. Open source is cool.
I'd be very interested in a smart app which took the data from the car info socket (the OBDII) so that I can read the info on a phone while sitting as a passenger.
Doesn't look as if Voltset can do this yet.
That sounds like the one.BenF firmware?
[BenF] That sounds like the one.
Seriously, you don't have an ELM 327? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-OBD2-ELM327-V1-5-Bluetooth-Car-Scanner-Android-Torque-Auto-Scan-Tool-OBD-II-/111088326026?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19dd61558a
I was demonstrating my ELM327 to my BIL only yesterday. He's yesterdays top mechanic, now enlightened.
... I think they may be a market for something more simple. ... All I usually use is voltage and the ohms setting for continuity tests.
It works with all petrol cars built from 2004. Pre-2004, it's a matter of suck-it-and-see.Does this work with any petrol car - specifically an AudiA3 ?
I must have had my eyes shut ! Just found a lot of useful apps. Thanks
Thanks but that appears to just do continuity + voltage y/n whereas what I fancy is something with a comprehensive display/functionality but using the screen of my phone. Then perhaps you need this device. It has a wireless display that communicates at the speed of light.
