Hi All,
Would appreciate some valuable help.....
Whole story short;
MD2030 on 33 foot sailboat
Had a small leak in engine bay bilge ( salt water ) after cruising that increased to an undesirable amount. not too much but surely noticeable
Checked the raw water pump weep holes and there was water exiting that area, so I changed the seal at back of impeller ( including small gasket / o-ring; one behind it onto shaft ) and once at it, I changed the impeller, even though it was changed 6 months ago. Then after also inverting the plate cover the water stopped weeping from the weep holes, so I thought the problem was solved but not;
I noticed that there is a small leak ( could have been there ) coming up from the hose where it is connected to the raw water pump ( bottom part ). This hose in my engine comes from the back from the gearbox and from the gearbox then there is another hose to the strainer and then to the seacock. I therefore decided to change this part of the hose, the one that goes from bottom of raw water pump to gearbox ( i.e. feeding hose ), I replaced it and added 2 jubillee clips on both sides but the part onto the gearbox is ok..no leaks but the part onto the raw water pump is still leaking. When engine is off with seacock open there is a slight leak but when engine is on, the leak increases.
I appreciate any help on this please. Thanks to All
The attached photo shows the type of raw water pump before I changed the impeller and hose etc
