I'd recommend him he seems great and always willing to explain things.

That looks good! Were you there for the survey; you would have learnt loads if so.

But still surprised that was pretty much it. Not even a comment on replacing standing rigging? Or high moisture readings lol.

That's one heck of a well maintained old boat if that's all the surveyor could come up with! Very impressed. Assume this was a full purchase survey?

Or he/she isn't very good!

My experience of surveyors is they will find tons of not important and tedious stuff - such as anodes - and cover their backs to the extreme on the major stuff!

Very good news.
The boat was actually the best maintained boat i have seen. I cant fault the guy for the way he looked after her. I looked at many and this was great. So i hope i keep it in that shape.

Rigging was great, running needs cleaning but ok. Moisture readings were not at a level to cause problems. Fuel tank was original so needs changing. But really it was the best boat ive been to see.

30. Fuel System:
The sales details suggested that the fuel tank was stainless steel and 40 litres in
size. Actually the tank was in the forward part of the port cockpit locker was mild
steel and painted black.

It was in poor condition in places and careful consideration should be given to its
replacement as there was corrosion breaking through the coatings, particularly at
the inboard upper parts. Its size was more like 100Ltrs – although it was not
actually measured.
At the tank was a fuel shut off valve, and this worked when tested. The tank filler
and vent were on the adjacent coaming above.

Not recommended by jfm from the MoBo forum & he knows his onions re insurance

JFM repeatedly only quotes 2 claims he was involved with but there's never any info about similar situations with other insurers which tends to give a very biased view. I've had protracted discussions with Towergate this last winter, the outcome of which is a complete rewording of the corrosion issue which was of concern to many. Some years ago I had a claim and the handling was excellent.
