Is there any reason not to use something like armaflex? It's cheap and you can order larger bore sizes from plumbers merchants.
I think it's about £9 for 2m
A plumber friend has used this and the outside of the insulation is cool to the touch. Must be working well!
I'm considering replacing my tatty bubble wrap with it.
Good call.
Data sheet says max 105 deg. David reckons you need 140 degrees but also says that thinsulate is good and its rated to 120 deg. The armaflex is class O so its not going to catch fire, the question is will it melt. At 9 quid and with the thinsulate lagging silly money i am going to try some and see.
