Looking to re-fit my Instruments - B&G network etc, ACP 1 AutoHelm, Raymarine RL80C and Radar (These will become available for sale) - to be replaced by -

ZeusS3 12, Triton2 Controller, Wind/Depth/LOG with Triton2(s)- and a FWD Scan - and a suitable Auto Pilot controller and processor for 12M yacht - I will re-use the Hydraulic RAM - and an NMEA 2000 Backbone - etc etc.

I have found a supplier in Spain with very good prices - Can anyone here advise as to the Import Duty, or Tax implications - This is my main question. - Thanks

as a secondary - has anyone done this sort of refit - like to share ?

Cheers and HNY 2024 will be busy.

A.

EU website purchases: the import charges UK customers have to pay
Now you want someone who has imported marine electronics to tell you the tariff classification for marine electronics. Add the duty (if any), add 20% VAT

I'll state the obvious that having a UK supplier to help if things go wrong or if you later have to return something under warranty. I don't think suppliers like Hudson make a big margin but then I don't know how compelling your proposed supplier's prices are.

I suspect most of us have replaced old electronics at some point. N2K networking isn't rocket science. I retained my venerable autohelm type 1 ram in my upgrade to n2k networking with my new autopilot controller (albeit raymarine)

As it's over £135, the shipping agent will bring it in to bond in the UK, work it out, add a fee then add VAT on the purchase price, shipping, import and fee. Once paid, they'll release it from the bonded warehouse.

Ok thanks. So it’s just VAT and an unknown fee ?

Cheers.

Thanks. I’ll dig a bit deeper on duty.
