Injector cleaning fluid in fuel filters

In various car forums I have read of mechanics cleaning injectors on diesel engines by pouring an amount of injector cleaning fluid such as Millers or STP Ultra 5 in1, directly into the screw-on fuel filter and then running the engine. Has anyone done this and if so did it work and what volume of injector cleaning fluid was used? Is there any potential for causing damage using this method?

Some fuel additives may help keep the fuel system clean. If your need is a precautionary treatment a fuel additive could be an option?

Yes I have done it by filling then refitting the fuel filter, tbh it made sod all difference!

I look at it like this, if any of the additives were any good trucks would use them.

Yup it's nonsense. It will just go straight through in micro seconds and get burnt. Best way to clean injectors and turbos is a good long run at cruising speed.
Someone tried to sell me a liquid full of graphite powder to "lubricate" the injectors. Pretty sure it will just sink to the bottom of the tank and do nothing.

A friend of mine used KEROPUR from BASF and he could note some improvements. There is a different stuff for petrol and diesel engines. He says the engines run more smooth and the engine knocking is more quiet...
And btw. he is someone who knows al lot of engines...I plan to use it this year ...

Diesel engines are very expensive to repair or replace.

I would not use snake oil in the prefilter, I would extract fuel pump and injectors and send them away for testing and recalibration or fit service exchange injectors.
