Indoor Winter Storage

I’d like to find somewhere I can store my 34 ft sailing boat indoors this winter – ideally somewhere where l'm allowed to work on her. Would much appreciate suggestions for boatyards with such facilities.

As your profile says you're in the Netherlands, have you looked there? I know of one person with a British-flagged vessel who keeps her in NL over winter. Huge sheds, cheap prices by UK standards, and when you do make it over there, you know that the weather isn't going to get in the way of your work.

Thank you for all the suggestions - all of whom I contacted (at least all the boatyards with the exception of Gillingham) and none of whom could accommodate me, mostly because either the boat was too large (34ft?) for the transporter/shed - or because they were already full anyway. North Fambridge were the most helpful but ultimately could only put me on their waiting list. In the end impatience and the temptation of a last sail this season overruled rational decision making and I did end up sailing to the Netherlands to store her indoors. Although the prices for indoor storage are, as I knew, in general cheaper there (at least cheaper than SE England) it would have suited my plans and circumstances to have left her in England this winter -and would ultimately have been good deal kinder to my bank balance but that's another story.

If your enquiries come to nought then a good alternative would be a farm. Grain stores are often empty by winter and you'd have all the space you could need. I'd also imagine that any additional travel costs would be offset by the fact the storage itself is likely to be very much cheaper than a boatyard.
This is what I do every two years or so. It helps to know a friendly farmer! Transport and cranage costs can be considerable, but at 34 feet you may be able to get a Hiab truck that will lift her on and off.
