Independant fuel tanks - port engine consumes more fuel

Not convinced on alternator

I think Bruce means the incorrect alternator pulley may be sending incorrect rpm to the tachometer which , if both tachometers read the same revs, means both engines are not in fact turning the same revs.
If so a new alternator pulley should solve the problem - which I imagine would be not too expensive .

That is correct. Note the alternator on the starboard engine. Some manual rpm tests using injection pulse pickup to tally against tacho should clarify. I'll also validate any difference once the belts are off with the vernier.

surely you find the boat pushing one way if you are revving 30% more

Ahh, therin lies what I refered to as one step closer. Remember earlier I said my drives weren't perfectly aligned. Nor is the steering wheel. Truth is I am not exactly sure where the centre point of my steering wheel is. Have I been counter steering? I have put a bit of tape where I believe centre is, but this has always been subject to tides and wind especially at hull speeds and could be as much as 20-30 degrees off, afterall, I set the steering centre point based on direction of travel.. Once on the plane it doesn't make that much difference I dont think. The boat isn't obviously crabbing or anything.

Are both engines original ? I note some differences between the engines - the starboard engine looks to have had new hoses (as they are black compared to painted green on the port engine) and the supercharger air duct thing is black. whether this is of any significance I wouldn't know.
Are the engines running in the photograph? Why no supercharger belts?

The engines were removed 4 years ago for a complete rebuild. I guess some parts you mentioned were replaced. The engines were running when photographed. One blower has gone as mentioned so both belts removed and the reason for me running C3 sets instead of C4 props. The blowers are now off and both have been sent in for replacement and or recon. In the April lift out I will tackle the drives alignment issue when the bellows get replaced.

You don't look anything like I expected you to look!

Red tape, red tape lol. That's my youngest and don't let the butter wouldn't melt look hide a steely determination in her.
