Just bought a boat fitted with one of these things. Despite playing with the range/sensitivity controls it seems to be hopeless at showing either depth or seabed profile at any speed. Before I rip it out of the dashboard and replace it with something useful like a tinny cooler, I just thought I would ask whether anyone has experience with these things?

<font color=blue>My mate has one but says they don't really have much range. The other drawback is the bulb in which the sender is housed is designed to be knocked off... too easily.
I s'pose tho' if you were feeling your way up a channel somewhere it could be a prop saver /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Mike,

Would recommend a chat with Mike Phillips, who builds them. The ultimate enthusiast for his own products but I'm sure he would do everything in his power to advise on how to get best performance from it. Genuine nice type...old gaffer and Weymouth Nelson owner.
