This forum may provide an excuse to have an occasional rant, to poke fun at fellow forumites, or to pour scorn on those from the dark side. But it is also a source of invaluable advice. What has caused me to write this time is an entirely unexpected act of generosity by another forumite that was entirely unexpected and unrequested. He knows who he is, and I am very grateful.

What a nice post! :)

Despite the bickering, the rants, the wind ups, the taunts, just about everyone I have ever met who contributes on the forums, mobo owners included, are really nice, good people. So I'm not entirely surprised to read your post.

Despite my rant against you chaps in the Lounge, I have to agree that everyone I've met from the East Coast Forum has been charming, pleasant and friendly!:D:D:D

Yup; I've never met anyone from here that I haven't liked - even the infamous Happy/GC1 :) - and have been the recipient of various bits of help and acts of kindness at one time or another, with nothing expected or sought in return.

It's good to remember this, at times when the baying mob are in full flow, and people who have posted on here for years feel obliged to leave or take a break.

As for East Coast Forum members, I don't know how closely they are related but I did notice, on a recent trip to Belgium, that Morgana never took his shoes and socks off. Whether or not this was to hide his webbed feet I do not know.................. :)

I have been doing a bit of buying here and have been amazed how nice the people are and even sending goods before payment received
( except one who threatened to send "arry" round :p )
And an offer to show me the ropes on my boat ( yet to be taken up :D )

I have been a member of this forum, under a number of different names, since 1995 (i think). The vast majority of people are yachting enthusiasts, eager to advice and to help as much as possible.

Over the years I have received valuable information and advice and I hope that i have provided some assistance too.

Sad person that I am, I have been in newsgroups and such-like since the early 90s, and on a precursor of newsgroups since the mid 80s. All such groups are very much the same - a majority of people who just want to discuss matters sensibly, a few wise souls who keep discussions on track and provide what I've got to call "wisdom" and a few lunatics who either have an axe to grind, or who like provoking trouble. This group is pretty sensible on the whole!

Those I have met so far have all been a bad influence, involving drink & talking what was described by a recent non participant as 'Blo**ks' until the early hours.

With hindsight, the bad influence may just be me......
