In at the deep end!

If it was me in your position I guess at this stage I'd be focussing on getting the engine survey sorted out - a large chunk of the value of the boat is in the engines, so it would be wise to protect yourself while you still have time (ie before the purchase completes). Best of luck though, let us know how you get on.
Cheers
Jimmy
Engine report completed and sea trial held this week. Unfortunately I couldn't be there to experience that due to work commitments :(

Report positive, minor corrosion on port engine external bits caused by water leaking through engine hatch. Compression test fine on both engines and other mechanical bits sound so I now have peace of mind.

I have paid the deposit and will soon be a proud new owner. The insurance company has insisted in the policy that I get RYA trained before taking out the boat myself and the policy probably cost me another £100 for being a complete newbie.

There was a minor bit of drama on the way back from the sea-trial as one engine cut out. The cause was diagnosed as a build up of 'sludge' in the tanks, which were one third full, blocking the fuel pipe. The owner is paying for this to be sorted out. The sea trial was therefore well worth paying for. I certainly wouldn't have wanted that to happen to me on my first outing. I will search this forum to how to avoid this problem in future.

I am really looking forward to next spring and the start of my boating adventures :D

P.S Anyone like the pictures I posted?

Congratulations :D hoping that mine () will be sea trialled early next week :) and mine before Xmas.

Photos look good, I do like a nice clean bottom :). There's getting to be quite a gang of us new owners, we'll have to see if we can all have a get together in the new year, Gary can teach us all how to catch our own supper :D. Where will you be based?
