Impressive power boat on Blackwater

Romford Navy? Sorry Romford....... That really upsets me, I suppose he knows he is making a dingy swamping wake but I suppose he doesn't care.

Agreed sort of thing that irks responsible MOBO owners as we all get tarred with the same brush.

Good job Dylan was not on the moorings :p

That's the rub isn't it. 90%+ of motor boaters are considerate and cause no problems at all, it's the 10% who don't give a monkeys tha cause all the grief, not to mention damage (don't ask me about the cost of replacing a pair of bronze fairleads :() There's probably at least as many twonks in sailing boats but they don't have the horsepower to be as obviously anti-social :)

:encouragement:

A wash such as that was partially responsible for my ending up in the water when moored on the Crouch at Burnham. I was trying to get from my dinghy into Jessie at the time and had not tied the dinghy fore and aft. The dinghy surged with the wash and I, unbalanced, fell between it and Jessie. The other interesting thing about that was that notwithstanding that my lifejacket inflated and a fair amount of splashing ensued as I tried to get myself to the boarding ladder still holding the dinghy painter, no-one amongst those nearby, both on the water and onshore, noticed my plight. And certainly not those on board the vessel which had contributed.

I was always taught more years ago than I care to recall it is not about speed its about wash.

Passing moorings or folks reefing/putting away sails slow down there is a safety aspect that most responsible MOBO owners get; unfortunately a small minority don't.

Erbas has it bang on.

Sad to say, I think the bounciest moorings on the East Coast are in West Mersea, mostly caused by sailors using ribs. You need to keep your ears open when cooking dinner or making a brew around there.

Absolutely correct. Amazes me that the prime offenders here are colleague yachtsmen. I was doing a tricky and intricate piece of fettling that only a wooden boat owner would understand involving brain being lower than bum (a frequent occurrence you might think) and tools went everywhere, elbow slipped, mush kissed bilge - all because of a rib heading to a yacht 4 up on the trots at a very unnecessary speed. Mind you the fishermen are not entirely innocent either.
