Importing a salvage powerboat from the USA

Let’s put this together.....Florida....racing....historic....narrow beam.....it’s this some kind of Miami Vice, Cigarette type craft ?
 
Back when the dollar was weak, a lot of small American boats made their way here....many of us cut our teeth on Bayliners, Searays etc. Now cheap boats come from France via Poland.
And salvage doesn’t mean bad either....your engine blows a head gasket, the salvage company comes and tows you, you can’t pay the fee...it’s sold as salvage

Yes mine was only 7 years old and still had the wrappers on the seats and the makers plastic in the microwave.
Sat unused in water the big block V8 petrol was seized solid. But it was otherwise like a new boat. And I got $1.98 to the £.
A Yanmar diesel courtesy of the sealine S42 re engine debacle cost me £8k - it had 60 hours on it. It was a bargain boat that took me on many fun adventures.

Found some pics.

One planing under tower bridge before there was a speed limit and the others in St Peter port. Can’t find a pic of the whole boat.

Just thought it would be good to update this in case other people out there are thinking of also importing a powerboat.
38’ was roughly £5600 for shipping port to port and £300 in admin.
So, depending on what your base price is, it may be economically viable.

In addition to this,
If you’re running a business and you’re VAT registered then it maybe possible fast-track your admin before the boat has left the Port of Origin.

If you’re company is using parts or part built boats in the construction of purpose built Raceboats then your end product would be exempt.

I am unsure whether there is a viable business in importing domestic hulls and converting them for race use, in the UK.
